What Mattered Most

What Mattered Most - Linda Winfree Ugh! It's another one of those hard to rate books. I actually enjoyed this one. I'm pretty much a sucker for the unrequited love trope. There were high points in the book for sure but there are low points as well where I feel the story dragged a little bit. And another thing I didn't get was the blurb. Totally misleading. The issue whether John will choose Lanie, the mother of his child or Beth, the woman he was hopelessly in love with for years were already resolved around 25% to 30% of the book. This book is basically about John realizing that the thing he was looking for has been right there all along. This is about him owning up to his feelings and making amends with the woman he didn't realize he loved all along.Anyway, still a solid read. I especially love how the book touched on Lanie's postpartum depression. It was very realistic and done really well. The ending was a little abrupt for me and this could use a great epilogue. Still, don't count this book out yet. You might find yourself enjoying it. :D3.5 to 4 stars!!
